Rickey Medlocke | Although Rickey Medlocke is best known as a musician, he is also a successful songwriter, record producer and actor. Since he first came to prominence as a founding member of the most successful Native American rock band in history, Blackfoot, Rickey has been known as a consummate showman and a powerfully soulful singer, in addition to the respect he has achieved as a guitarist. Spurred on by their hit singles – “Train Train”, “Highway Song,” “Fly Away” among others, Blackfoot sold almost 5 million records and paved the way for other southern bands to rock hard. Now, as lead guitarist with the renowned Lynyrd Skynyrd, Rickey’s guitar work and exciting stage presence is only adding to his legend. He has been back with Skynyrd since 1996 (he was also the drummer from 1970-1973) and is now one of the primary songwriters as well as an integral member of the touring band. His acting credits include film and television work with actors like William Shatner, Don Johnson and Tom Sizemore, though these have to be scheduled in between his writing, recording and touring duties with Lynyrd Skynyrd. |
